The house is located on the outskirts of Nicosia in a relatively sparsely populated area. Common areas such as the living room and kitchen are located on the ground floor and bedrooms on the upper floor. The living room on the ground floor, with minimal openings to the street, creates a buffer between the road and the yard of the house. The entrance is located within a slice between the two volumes of the living and service areas. The elevated bedrooms shade a big part of the yard and the interior ground spaces from the strong summer sun. The yard between the elevated bedrooms and the living room on the ground floor that’s open to the sky allows for southern sunlight during the winter months to penetrate and warm the building. Large electrical shades on the west balconies of the bedrooms can regulate the amount of sunlight that enters the space while allowing for enough cross ventilation during the night.
